The Bungalow

The bungalow I have been living in has a great view, and is interesting to live in. I have my reptile roommates that like to hang out with me, and eat the insect invaders. Here are some photos of mi casa!

Tortugas!

Sunday, July 01, 2012
Bob and I go on a dolphin and sea turtle scouting trip. Bob got to catch a fish, and we watched for dolphins and turtles in the open ocean. I got a little sea sick, but also got to work on my tan.

It’s Bob’s last night in Puerto Escondido, so we go out to dinner at a small restaurant called the Pizza Bar. I help Bob pack when we get back from dinner.

Crocodile Adventure

Thursday, June 28, 2012
Spanish class from 10am-12pm. I return to the bungalow, and Bob makes us lunch
Spanish class 1pm-3pm.
Spanish class with Ricardo

We go for a walk on the beach to the marina and made plans to take a dolphin and turtle tour for Sunday.  Then we take a cab to Playa Carizillo and hang out on the beautiful beach, swim in the cove, and watch the surfers. Once we were entirely relaxed, we take salsa dancing lessons. What a great work out! We decide to cook dinner at the bungalow tonight.

Friday, June 29, 2012
Bob made breakfast burritos. Spanish class 10am-12pm. I write a silly story in Spanish for homework and read it out loud to Bob. Spanish class 1pm-3pm
Lunch at Bull Surf, we share a plate of spaghetti with meat sauce and a basket of bread.
We take another shopping trip to Super Che to get more pesos and groceries. We go to a Rock n roll show at Kabbalah Bar, and had drinks with the band from Argentina. After the show, Bob and I go have drinks with Ricardo (my Spanish teacher) at the Villa Carizillio outdoor bar.

Dawn patrol surfing!

Bob and I get up before sunrise and try to surf Carizillio, but the waves were too small so we went home and took a very long nap until noon. I make a batch of breakfast burritos for late lunch. At dusk we go on a crocodile adventure, we drive to a lagoon where the crocs live and visit a reptile sanctuary where they breed crocodiles, iguanas, and turtles.

Surfing and Horseback Riding

Wednesday, June 27, 2012
We took a surf lesson with Surf Master Hydro (pronounced hee-droh)  at La Punta. We both kicked ass, and caught tons of waves, but both of us got some minor injuries. Bob scraped his back on a rock and I got a bruised shin from my surfboard fin. I made breakfast burritos for us, and they were delicious! Spanish class 12pm-4pm. After class, we hung out on the beach by Victor’s for a couple hours. We went horseback riding on the beach at sunset with Senior Salvador.

Then we go out to Los Tios again with a bunch of the other people who are also taking Spanish lessons. Penny and Jill are ESL teachers from Colorado, Paul and ESL teacher from Atlanta, and Ellen a teacher from Texas, Ellen’s two kids Zack and Ben, and her husband, also named Bob.

Shopping and Crazy Crabs

Tuesday, June 26, 2012
Bob and I go to the Super Che (Mexican Wal-mart) and buy groceries/necessities
Spanish from 12pm-4pm. I go meet bob on the beach by Victor’s, and he buys me rounds of Margaritas. We go to the market area in the middle of town to exchange US dollars for more pesos. Bob cooks us dinner at the bungalow, instead of going out to dinner. We had to get to sleep early because we wanted to get up early to go surfing the next morning.

I love to take pictures of the crabby residents in Puerto Escondido. They come in lots of sizes and different colors!

Bob Arrives in Puerto Escondido

Hey everyone! I have been very busy in Puerto Escondido, and have been neglecting the blog. SORRY!!! I have Spanish lessons 5 days a week for 4 hours each day, plus an hour of homework every day. The classes are so much fun and I love my teachers, but it is a lot of work. I am making great progress learning Spanish, and can understand most of what people say when they speak to me. I am at the point where I can articulate small sentences, and each day I improve significantly. Last week Bob visited me in Puerto Escondido and stayed for 7 days. We did so many fun things together, read on to follow our adventures!

Week with Bob: Monday June 25- Monday July 02

Monday, June 25, 2012
I have my Spanish lessons with my teacher, Israel from 12pm-2pm, and then more lessons with Ricardo 2-4pm.

Bob arrives in PE in the afternoon! We hang out at the Bull Surf Bar drink margaritas and sit on the lounge chairs. We make friends with the owner of the bar, Victor. Victor has the cutest puppy named Mota (translation Weed).

We explore Playa Principal and take a sunset beach stroll.

We have a romantic dinner at Los Tios, a restaurant that overlooks the Zicatela Beach.

I order quesadillas with beef, and Bob has enfrijoladas with chicken. Both of us have Mezcal shots (very strong tequila). After dinner, we go to Mango’s for late night cocktails and stayed until they closed the bar.
